Legend said that Buddha was reincarnated as the King of Deer here at Deer Park in Sarnath, India. Visitors can buy some food to feed these lovely deer. We also visited the Sarnath Archaeological Museum. The Museum charges very low admission fee even for foreign visitors. The museum has Ashoka's Lion Capital - the National Emblem of India and many other historic sculptures.

Another interesting thing for visitors to Sarnath, India is different architectural styles of temples from countries practising Buddhism. There is a Japanese style temple and a Burmese style temple. There is also a Tibetan style temple that we did not see.

Sarnath is an easy day trip from Varanasi, India. Originally we were going with the rest of the group. We were late after breakfast and the group was gone...it was actually easy to take a tuktuk to get to Sarnath. It took around 30 minutes from our hotel in Varanasi to Sarnath. Our driver waited for us in Sarnath and took us back as well. The weather turned nice. This beautiful Buddhist temple was the first sight we visited. It was closed for lunch and we walked to the archaeological site.

An interesting fact about India: Railroad crosses tend to be long. On the upside, you can hop out of your car for a pee and cup of chai while you wait.
